John Woitkowitz is participating in the Science Policy Workshop: ‘Raising awareness and building capacity for science-based policy-making’ at the Icelandic Center for Research (RANNIS) in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 8-9 October 2019. He is contributing his expertise and research as part of the Arctic Cultures project on the history of polar science to discussions about the challenges and opportunities for scholars in the social sciences and humanities to engage with policy makers on contemporary issues in the circumpolar world.
The results of the workshop will be presented in a breakout session of the Arctic Circle Assembly right after the workshop and published in a report.
The Science Policy Workshop is jointly organized by the German Foreign Office, the German Arctic Office, the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), the Association for Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS), and the Icelandic Center for Research (RANNIS).
