John is giving a paper as part of the APECS International Conference on “Polar Science: Success Stories from the Field and from Home”, to be held online on 12 May 2021.
In his presentation “Measuring and Mapping the Arctic: Cartography and the Legacies of Nineteenth-Century Arctic Science,” John is sharing his experience of researching in pandemic times as well as presenting findings of his case study research on the theory of the Open Polar Sea and the cartographical imagination of the Arctic throughout the nineteenth century.
