Richard gave an invited Plenary lecture at the conference “Greenland-Denmark=300” in Copenhagen on 10 June 2021.
The full title of Richard’s talk was “Making Arctics: Sociality and Science in the Circumpolar North”. The conference programme can be found here. The conference is organised by Aalborg University, and is being held to examine the 300th anniversary of relations between Greenland and Denmark. Richard talked about the sociality of Arctic scientific practices, and the use of ethnographic insights in understanding northern politics. The conference format is hybrid, and Richard’s lecture was presented virtually to the audience at the Royal Academy of Science and Letters in Copenhagen, as well as people joining from Ilisimatusarfik (University of Greenland) in Nuuk.
